Vehicle Expert

Transporters, Fighter Pilots, Military Drivers, and Mecha-Jockeys. They are experts with their specific vehicle, and have the confidence and nerves that separate them from your average person. Some are cool and cocky, others are razor focused and serious, but they all have the skills to back it up.

Class Features

As a Vehicle Expert, you gain the following class features.

Hit Points

Hit Dice: 1d6 per Vehicle Expert level.
Hit Points at 1st Level: 6 + your Constitution modifier.
Hit Points at Higher Levels: 1d6 (or 4) + your Constitution modifier per Vehicle Expert level after 1st.

Proficiencies

Armor: Light armor.
Weapons: Simple weapons, select one non-exotic weapon.
Tools: Mechanical Tool Kit.
Vehicles: Select One of the following: Ground Vehicles, Mecha, Light Aircraft, Medium Aircraft, Heavy Aircraft, Super-Heavy Aircraft.
Saving Throws: Charisma, Dexterity
Skills: Choose Two from Acrobatic, Deception, Intimidate, Perception, and Slight of Hand.

Equipment

You start with the following equipment, in addition to the equipment granted by your class:
* (a) A licensed weapon (Can not be restricted, military, illegal) or (b) A mechanical tool kit.
* A simple weapon

Quick Eject

With a keen understanding of their vehicle, the Expert knows when to bail from any vehicle. As long as the Vehicle Expert could leave the vehicle with a single move action worth of movement, they use their reaction to make a Dexterity Save to exit the vehicle.

Moxie

When everything is on the line, it’s the Vehicle Experts nerves and determination, their moxie, that pushing them to perform better that everyone else.
Points of Moxie: Proficiency Bonus + Charisma Bonus
Uses of Moxie:
Adrenaline Focus (1): Gain Expertise in a Strength or Dexterity skill for a single check, this adds your proficiency bonus against to a skill. If you already have Expertise in a skill, you gain no benefit from using Adrenaline Focus with that skill.
Close Shave (1): Gain Resistance to all Damage when making a Dexterity Check.

Garage

The vehicle expert maintains their own garage, building, modifying, and scrapping vehicles. The Vehicle Expert has a number of Vehicle Points (VP) to spend on one or multiple vehicles. Any vehicle Licensing will need to be paid for, but vehicles can be purchased with VP. The Vehicle Expert can spend a day of down time to spend, reallocate, or recover up to 40 VP at a time. Any Vehicle or modifications can’t be sold for money, and instead only refunds the VP.
A Vehicle Expert loses 1 day of downtime per week for vehicle maintenance. If the Vehicle Expert does not spend the needed day, all the vehicles bought with the Garage class feature break down, and any upgrades bought with VP stop functioning.

Vehicle Specialist

At 2nd level, the Vehicle Expert selects a specialization found at the end of the class. Mecha-Jockey (Bi-pedal Mechanical Infantry), Ace (Aircraft and Dog fighting), Driver (Surface Vehicles, Motorcycles, Automobiles, Boats, excluding Mecha).

Push the Limits

At 3rd level, the Vehicle Expert gains more uses for their Moxie.
Vehicle Dodge (2): As a reaction, you may grant Resistance to all damage for allies in your vehicle when they’re forced to make a Dexterity Check.
Nitro (1): For the rest of the round the vehicle your in gains +10 speed or the ability to increase it’s speed category by one extra when accelerating.
Dive By (1): Steady a vehicle, remove disadvantage caused by vehicle momentum.

Ability Score Improvement

When you reach 4th level, and again at 8th, 12th, 16th, and 19th level, you can increase one ability score of your choice by 2, or you can increase two ability scores of your choice by 1. As normal, you can’t increase an ability score above 20 using this feature.

Driver

Automobile and watercraft experts.

Driver’s Moxie

At 2nd level, the Vehicle Expert gains new uses for Moxie.
Drive the Line (2): Gain Advantage on all Drive checks for the rest of a scene.
Smooth Landing (1): Guarantee a Vehicle Jump Stunt ends with the vehicle upright and maintaining the vehicle momentum.
Drift (1): Make a 90 degree turn without a check, and maintaining momentum.

Expert Driver

Select a specific Vehicle to gain Expertise in, it must be a Motorcycle, Automobile, or Boat. Expertise lets you double your proficiency bonus for the specific Vehicle checks.

PIT Stop

At 5th level, the Vehicle Expert gains the ability to perform a PIT (Precise Immobilization Technique) stop. When the Vehicle Expert may use their action to perform a PIT stop against another vehicle. The Vehicle Expert rolls Dexterity (Vehicle Proficiency) and the vehicle being struck rolls Dexterity (Vehicle Proficiency). On a tie the defending vehicle succeeds. If the Vehicle Expert succeeds by less than 10, the struck vehicle turns 45 degrees away from the Vehicle Experts vehicle, however if the Vehicle Expert succeeds by 10 or more, the struck vehicle turns 90 degrees and starts to roll.

Mecha-Jockey

Mecha-Jockeys run Mecha like a second skin, some find it more natural to be piloting than walking. Mecha-Jockeys range from Kaiju hunters to Mecha Racers.

Mecha Proficiency

At 2nd level, the Vehicle Expert gains proficiency in Vehicle (Mecha) and Mecha Weapons.

Jockey Moxie

At 2nd level, the Vehicle Expert gains new uses for Moxie.
Glancing Blow (1): After you miss a target with a Mecha melee weapon, grant advantage to any ally attacking that target.
Catch the Strike (1): Redirect damage to a Mecha Arm or held item, from any other area.
Overload (2): Ignore all power requirements for a round.

Quick Entry

At 2nd level, the Vehicle Expert can enter or exit a Medium or Large Mecha using a bonus action.

Mecha Evasion

At 5th level, the Vehicle Expert gains the ability to nimbly dodge of of the way of certain area effects. When you are subjected to an effect that allows you to make a Dexterity saving throw to take only half damage, you instead take no damage if you succeed on the saving throw, and only half damage if you fail.

Ace

Fighter Ace will not be available.
