Age of Orion
Orions Arrow
The National Pastime of Orion, this a No-Holds bar mixture of Basketball and Archery played with a heavily weighted arrow. Teams of three (with three backup players) are armed with bows and leather armor, and a single arrow which starts in the opposing teams possession. The goal is simple, get close enough to the other side of the field to shoot the arrow through the opposing three goal rings. The rings are set up in a line, and separated by three feet. Each ring gives the same score of the ring, so one point for the first ring, two points for the second ring totaling three points, and scoring all three rings is a total of six points. Due to this scoring, most shots are taken from mid field, and close to the goal. After a successful shot, the arrow goes to the team scored on and the field is reset. First team to 18 points wins. Players are allowed to bow strike or tackle other players, Arrow shots against other players are legal due to it’s large blunted nature, and pass the arrow by shooting it at another player. The game is otherwise rules light, the fans dislike games that dissolve into a slugfest, but while the bows are strong, they do break after enough damage; with punches, kicks, elbows, knees, and head butts being disallowed (shoulder tackles are allowed), a broken bow reduces a player to a nearly worthless state, requiring them to run to their side’s goal and retrieve a new bow.
