Thunder Chasers

A recent newcomer to Orion, Thunder Chasers is a team based competition centering around three specific games, all centering around Thunder Lizards. Teams of four will compete in three separate games: Rings Rally, Lizard Rodeo, The Blitz. The winner of the most games is crowned the winning team. Usual rewards of gold, titles, and other prizes are presented to the winners. A lot of competitors are either swayed into military service for winning or playing well, others are in it for the fame, glory, or rewards and just want to keep competing. Dinosaurs didn’t exist until Cernos created them, so most Thunder Chasers games are also seen as somewhat religious.

  • Ring Rally
Ring Rally is usually the opening team game, with the full team playing. In the game the Teams ride their trained Raptors to collect rings that are attached to larger monsters, those monsters are usually vicious predators in their own right and can range from the Spinosaurus to the T-Rex. The idea is to engage the predator, collect rings from the predator, and be the first team to collect five of the nine rings. The game is usually played first in Thunder Chasers, and is played with at least two competing teams, some larger games will have multiple teams and use this as an elimination round to trim the numbers down a bit.
  • Lizard Rodeo
Lizard Rodeo pits a team of two Raptors and their riders against other raptor and rider teams. The teams must herd three herbivores from the center of the arena to their respected side. Teams are not allowed into direct combat, however bites and accidents are traded in most matches. There have been matches where Raptor fights have ended the match and the crowd decides who should claim the round as a win.
  • The Blitz
The Arena is changed up to throw a single raptor and his rider against the obstacle course. It’s a game of speed, the competing teams are released at the same time, and the winner is the first to reach the end. The course usually mixes climbing, crawling, jumping, and swimming for the Raptors and their riders. There are up to three matches of The Blitz, each time it must be a different Raptor and rider. As a result, sometimes it comes down to the first match, if a team has won Ring Rally and Lizard Rodeo, they only need to win one round of The Blitz.
